EVALUATING THE IMPACT OF THE CORONAVIRUS DISEASE ON THE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF PUBLIC SECTOR INSTITUTIONS IN LUSAKA

Abstract

The unprecedented global quarantine imposed during the coronavirus outbreak has revealed an interesting ethical dilemma. While lockdowns are important to protect lives, they come at a cost in the form of economic malaise caused by business and social disturbances. To maintain this delicate balance during a crisis, it is obvious that socioeconomic operations must be converted digitally to ensure continuity. Zambia has been no exception to the effects of coronavirus, and the country at large has had to make adaptations that aid the containment and spread of the virus. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 on the Digital Transformation of Public Sector Institutions in the city of Lusaka. A quantitative research-based approach was used based on primary data obtained from the two subgroups of this research. The subgroups included employees in public service institutions and consumers and beneficiaries of these services. According to the findings of the study, the coronavirus has an impact on the digital transformation of public sector entities. Regardless of the fact this research met its aims, it would have been more advantageous if there had been more respondents eager to provide additional data related to the research. The research, on the other hand, was not jeopardized because the intended objectives and research questions were met. As a result, it would be beneficial if this study could be done using a broader methodology.
